Here in America, most of us are moving our clocks forward one hour today for Daylight Savings Time. This is happening three weeks earlier than usual to save energy.
But don't panic. CNN is reporting this morning the switch will be "less severe than Y2K."
Y2K? Oh yeah. That thing we did in 2000, commonly referred to in scientific terms as "mass global lunacy."
"It's going to be a nuisance, not a disaster," said risk strategist John Pironti to CNN.
Whew! That's a relief!
The fear, according to media reports, is that computers that are set to change their clocks automatically, will not do so for another three weeks, throwing all of our schedules into chaos. After hearing this, I galloped straight to my computer to discover that I myself am a victim of this un-disaster. My computer currently says the time is 10:07 a.m. when in fact it is... ummm... ummm... OH CRAP!!! I DON'T KNOW!!!
Okay, nobody panic! Seriously! I am not sure exactly what this means, but common sense dictates we should all get vaccinated for bird flu and stock up on duct tape. And if anybody out there whose computer has the correct time could send me over some beer and pizza, I might get through this. I'm not going outside until I learn how to do these time computations manually.
