Sometimes in life, our dreams are smashed into billions of tiny pieces, and all we can do is take a deep breath and try to keep on living.
There's a country I have dreamed of visiting ever since I can remember -- a proud nation, known for its sumptuous cuisine, its unrivaled monuments, it's proud history, and its world-famous automotive and electronic industries.
I am, of course, talking about Liechtenstein.
Liechtenstein is a mighty land, nestled between Switzerland and Austria. It is more than three times the size of my bathtub. I thought I was finally going to fulfill my travel dream today. I thought I was going to get to go to Liechtenstein. It's included in the driving route in my tour guide manual, but I am not the lead guide on this tour. I am in training, and the lead guide claims she knows a better route.
A better route? Whatever! Liechtenstein, according to Wikipedia, has approximately 155 miles of paved roadways. Paved roadways! Like we're going to find that on a different route.
I had a contest last week to guess which country on this month's travels would be a new destination for me, and yep, the answer was supposed to be Liechtenstein. I worked hard putting that contest together. I even learned how to spell Liechtenstein, and let me tell you, that's no easy task. There were two winners: Nancy in Edmonds, Washington, and Danae in Federal Way, Washington. I am still going to award the prizes, but I shall now do so with a sulk on my face.
